Packaging and can veteran turns 85
Joergen Windelev, founder and owner-manager of Windelev graphic arts company in Copenhagen, turns 85 years on Friday, November 10.
For more than six decades, Windelev has been a graphics arts supplier for the packaging and canmaker industries. The Danish company has specialized in HD jobs, technical complex artwork designs and plate-making for suppliers, producers and brand-owners of beverage cans, aerosol cans and all kinds of plastic packaging.
Windelev has customers in more than 50 countries in Europe, Asia, The Americas, Middle East, Australia and Africa. Earlier this year, the company’s German customer Xtracan was appointed Canmaker Gold Winner of the Year 2023 with aerosol can artwork from Windelev.
As owner-manager Joergen Windelev still takes part in the daily business of the company, i.e. management and customer relations. During the last year, the activity level of the company has risen with several new customers in new geographic regions. However, due to Joergen Windelev’s age, the board is examining the possibilities for a generational change of ownership.
“As part of the graphics arts, packaging and canmaker industries for almost 70 years, I am looking forward to pass the baton and let new forces carry the company, with its solid foundation, further on,” Joergen Windelev says.
After his apprenticeship, Joergen Windelev was a professional cyclist in Spain for three years, before returning to Copenhagen to establish his own business. Despite his age, Joergen Windelev is still riding bikes – for several years he has participated in the two-day and 410 km Bali Audax Tour in Indonesia.
